A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College (English Literature), the University of Alabama at Birmingham (Master of Arts Education in Counseling) and the Iliff School of Theology (Master of Divinity), Ruth served 11 years in parish ministry in the United Methodist Church (including Religious Education supervision). She has been a leader in our church for the past 12 years in areas such as stewardship, worship, the board of trustees, and the choir, and she is now a Unitarian Universalist ministerial candidate. She is the daughter of Civil Rights Movement mediating attorney, David J. Vann, who later served as mayor of Birmingham in 70’s. She and her husband, Bill, have two teen boys, Liam and Angus, and one cat, the indomitable Zorro.

Ruth’s new office hours as of August 1 are Mon and Wed, 9:00 – 3:00.
