Carmen Williams is a classical pianist, born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.  She’s a senior at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, where she majors in piano with Dr. Lucy DeSa. Carmen has been playing piano for 8 years and has earned several awards for her solo performances, including

  • Alabama Federation of Music Clubs: 1st place Junior Audition Scholarship (2017)
  • BMTA Donna Shugart Sonata and Sonatina: 1st place (2017)
  • Bush Hills Piano Competition: 1st place Junior Division (2015) and 2nd place Senior Division (2016)
  • Alabama Music Teachers Association: Solo Piano State Winner (2015).

Carmen has accompanied the Flames of Harmony, the children’s choir at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmimgham, Alabama, since 2016. After graduation in May of 2018, Carmen hopes to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham to pursue a degree in Piano Performance under Dr. Yakov Kasman. She wants to attend graduate school to earn her master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy.
