Get Involved

As a result of our growth, our church is evolving from a pastoral church (one in which the minister manages most aspects of the church) to a program-based church--one in which church members actively manage the church through board actvitiy and committee leadership. Volunteering is a great way to get to know other members of the congregation, and our church needs your help so that we can be a dynamic force in the community.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Help Create our Church's Covenant

Do you have ideas about what our organizing principle should be? If so, please join us for discussion of the book, Redeeming Time: Endowing Your Church with the Power of Covenant. Each person who signs up will receive a copy of the book for $10.60.

We will meet after church three times: Sunday, December 13th , Sunday, January 10th , and Sunday, January 24th. Sign up in the book in the back of the sanctuary or contact Carrie Crenshaw. Sign-up deadline is Sunday, November 22 nd . We will have a 15  person limit. Childcare is available.  Please contact Melissa Hamley, child.care, to make arrangements.

Help with Religious Education

Please see RE volunteer page or contact Sharron Mendel Swain, dre.

Calling UU Youth to Join Young Chalice Lighters!

UUCB teens, this is your chance to begin taking part in services and making your mark in our community. Join us after the service on August 23rd to help form a new group for UU Youth that will regularly participate in services by lighting the chalice and speaking the chalice lighting words.  Bring your creative thinking caps, bring your calendars, and bring your parents.  Let's start a new tradition!

For more information before the meeting contact Fred Wagner.

Playground Maintenance

Like to play with power tools outside? We need you! Thank you to everyone who helped build our wonderful new playground. Now we need a few good volunteers to come out and keep it weeded. Now that most of the ground is covered in wood chips, it is so much easier than before! Interested? Please sign up on the back table in the sanctuary, or contact Sharron Mendel Swain at dre or 945-8109.

Kitchen Volunteers needed

Please contact Elisa Aboatiyeh to make coffee, clean up , and/or help with First Sunday Lunch Clean up.

Logistics Coordinators Needed--1st Sundays

If you are interested in serving the church as a logistics coordinator on the 1rd Sunday of each month, please contact Bob Clifton. A logistics coordinator does sometimes go unnoticed but always does essential jobs, such as making sure the sound system is on and ready for the service, the A/C is on, and the hymnals have been supplied equitably to the congregation for the service. If you haven’t been trained as a logistics coordinator but you’re still interested, don’t worry—we’ll train you!

Make a Casserole for Pathways

March 18 kicked off the UUCB Casserole Drive. Feed the homeless and make a difference!

Committees Seeking Help

As a result of our growth, most committees are actively seeking new members. Even if you can't attend the meetings, there may be ways to help on an ad hoc basis. Contact the committee chair from the list above and ask how you can help.
